Dr. Thomas S. O'Malley DDS

Tom passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 7, 2023, at the age of 91. He is preceded in death by his parents Dr. Stanley and Geraldine O’Malley, his brother-in-law William Koenig and sister-in-law Harriett Gutenkunst.

He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Ruth (nee Gutenkunst) and was the proud and loving father of three sons Dr. Glen, Kevin (Nadine) and Tim (Julie). He was the devoted grandfather of Adam, Megan (David) Parato, Conor, Maddie (Doug) Hoppe, Macy and Logan - and, great grandchildren Carson Goeller, James and Dominic Parato, and Matilda Sanders. Tom was also loved by his brother John and sister-in-law Mary, sister-in-law Joan, and brother-in-law Dick and sister-in-law Joyce. He was cherished by nieces, nephews, extended family and countless friends.

Tom & Ruth lived and traveled the world over their 67 years together. Although they lived as far north as Alaska and south as Virgin Gorda in the BVI’s, Wisconsin was always their home.

Dr. Tom loved his career as a Dentist. He took great pride that he carry on and grew the practice his father Stan had founded in 1926, but also was able to celebrate his son Glen’s success. Reflecting on three generations of O’Malley Family Dentistry always brought a smile to his face.

He considered himself fortunate to have served many organizations throughout his life, including the US Public Health Service (lieutenant junior grade), Mitchell Field Rotary, as a Shriner, the Tri-County JayCees, Heiliger Huegel Ski Club, Pewaukee Lake Yacht Club, Bilge Puller, Chenequa Country Club, Association of Independent Dentists, his Friday Dental Group, and the “Rusty Zipper” Club.

Along with his career, Tom was known to all as a craftsman, horseman, hunter, sailor, skier, golfer, pilot and lifelong learner, who loved his country. Always quick with a joke and a story with beer in hand, he was a true Irishman!

In addition to thanking family and friends for their love and support, the family would like to thank the team at BrightStar Care, especially special friend, Elicia for her compassion and beautiful spirit in caring for dad.

It was Tom’s wish for a private family service.

A celebration of Tom’s life will be held in the new year. Family and friends will be notified.
