What will the pipeline do?
The 35-mile long pipeline will pump Lake Michigan water to Waukesha homes and business in order to replace the radium contaminated groundwater. Treated wastewater will be returned to the lake via the Root River.
How much will the pipeline cost?
The project will cost $286 million. Waukesha Water Utility ratepayers will see typical monthly bills go from $95 a month last year to $155 by 2027.

What is S.J. Louis Construction Inc.?
S.J. Louis is a Minnesota-based national construction company that specializes in underground utility construction. It has done work throughout the country and is the lead contractor on pipeline project.
Have there been any problems during construction?
Yes. Officials say the pipeline is being constructed properly and should work without a problem. However, regulators including the state Department of Natural Resources and OSHA have repeatedly cited S.J. Louis.
When will the pipeline be completed?
