We wanted to see if we could find a full Thanksgiving dinner at Kwik Trip. Here's how it went
If there's one place Wisconsinites love, it's Kwik Trip.
So, with Thanksgiving coming up, we decided to see if we could buy a full Turkey Day dinner for a reasonable price at Wisconsin's favorite convenience store and gas station.
We visited Kwik Trip #971 at 2101 S. Moorland Road in New Berlin in search of enough traditional Thanksgiving food to feed about six-to-eight people.
Here's what we bought.
How do I buy Thanksgiving dinner at Kwik Trip?
- Turkey ... or chicken: We could not find a whole turkey at Kwik Trip (they do sell sliced turkey sandwich meat, though). So, instead, we bought a warm, Kitchen Cravings homestyle roasted chicken for $6.99. According to the package, the chicken can feed about eight people.
- Gravy: Kwik Trip sells a 12-ounce jar of Heinz HomeStyle turkey gravy for $3.49. It serves six people.
- Stuffing: Stove Top stuffing is $3.69 per 6-ounce box at Kwik Trip. One box serves about six people.
- Mashed potatoes: We found a 20-ounce package of Reser's Steakhouse mashed potatoes at Kwik Trip for $4.79. According to the package, it contains 4.5 servings.
- Mac and cheese: You can't have Thanksgiving in Wisconsin without something cheesy. Kwik Trip sells Reser's Signature macaroni and cheese for $4.79 per 20-ounce container, which contains 2.5 servings.
- Vegetables: Although we could not find green beans or green bean casserole ingredients at Kwik Trip, we did find Birds Eye Steamfresh mixed vegetables for $2.99 per 10-ounce package, which contains about three servings.
- Sweet potatoes: Large sweet potatoes are 39 cents per pound at Kwik Trip. We purchased two, totaling 3.09 pounds, for $1.21.
- Dinner rolls: We found a 12-pack of Kwik Trip brand classic white dinner rolls for $1.59.
- Cranberries: Perhaps second to cheese, cranberries are one of the most important staples in a true Wisconsin Thanksgiving meal. Kwik Trip sells 12-ounce packages of Wisconsin Red Pearls cranberries for $2.29 each.
- Pie: Don't forget dessert. You can buy an 8-inch Rocky Mountain Pies pumpkin pie at Kwik Trip for $8.99. It should serve at least five people, depending how big a slice you want.
- Whipped cream: An 8-ounce tub of Cool Whip whipped cream is available at Kwik Trip for $3.29 to top off a slice of your favorite Thanksgiving pie.

Does Kwik Trip have any Thanksgiving specials or deals?
Even if you don't plan to buy your whole Thanksgiving dinner at Kwik Trip, you can still take advantage of some deals on items to incorporate into your holiday meal.
Kwik Trip public relations specialist Ben Leibl said the convenience store chain is offering the deals below through Nov. 20, so customers should be sure to stock up on these items in advance of Thanksgiving:
- Nature's Touch butter is on sale for $2.99 each, limit of five.
- Three-pound bags of onions are on sale for $1.99. Limit of two.
- Crystal Farms cheese blocks and shredded cheese are on sale for two for $5.
Additionally, through Dec. 4, five-pound bags of potatoes are on sale for 99 cents, limit of two, Leibl said. He added that more deals, including a sale on eggs, will be available on the Kwik Trip Kwik Rewards app the week of Thanksgiving.
And contrary to what we found, Leibl said you can get turkey at Kwik Trip, but just for a limited time. For $6.99 the week of and the week before Thanksgiving, Kwik Trip offers a Thanksgiving take-home meal.
"If folks don't want to cook a Thanksgiving meal, or if they're on the road, we will have turkey take-home meals in our fresh cases," Leibl said. "So, that's turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy and, I believe, corn, that they can get in our stores. All they have to do is heat it up."
