Diana Gutiérrez named co-anchor of 10 p.m. newscast at WISN-TV (Channel 12) in Milwaukee
Diana Gutiérrez, morning co-anchor at WISN-TV (Channel 12), has been named co-anchor of the Milwaukee ABC affiliate's 10 p.m. newscast.
Gutiérrez's promotion fills the lineup spot vacated when news anchor Joyce Garbaciak decided in September to trim her duties to anchoring the station's 6 p.m. newscast, so she could spend more time with her family.
Gutiérrez will join co-anchor Patrick Paolantonio, chief meteorologist Mark Baden and sports director Dario Melendez on the 10 p.m. newscast. She also will have an "enhanced reporting role" on the station's 6 p.m. newscast, according to Channel 12.
She'll start her new gig Nov. 20.
Gutiérrez joined Channel 12 in January 2021, from Chicago's WCIU-TV, as a "breaking news reporter" and 4:30 a.m. anchor on the Milwaukee station's morning newscasts, as well as anchor of Channel 12's 11 a.m. newscast. She was bumped up to co-anchor for the full morning newscast three months later, following Eden Checkol's departure for an anchor job in Miami.
According to Channel 12, Gutiérrez will pull double duty from Nov. 20-22, co-anchoring both the 10 p.m. and morning newscasts. She'll be on at 10 p.m. full-time starting Nov. 29.
Channel 12 says it's looking for a replacement for Gutiérrez in the morning and 11 a.m. slots.
