Ben & Jerry's Scoop Shop coming to Milwaukee's Third Ward
A Ben & Jerry's Scoop Shop is coming to Milwaukee, on 203 N. Broadway.
According to an occupancy permit, the popular ice-cream brand known for its unique flavors will open the Scoop Shop in Milwaukee's Third Ward.
The opening date isn't set yet and a Ben & Jerry's media contact didn't respond to a request to answer questions.
This will be the only Scoop Shop in Wisconsin. Currently, the closest is in Gurnee, Illinois, at the Great Wolf Lodge. There are three other shops in the Chicago area, including one at Navy Pier in Chicago.
Scoop Shops, which are franchised, serve Ben & Jerry's ice cream, nondairy frozen dessert, sunflower butter and sorbet, as well as sundaes and shakes.
The Third Ward location is part of a four-story building owned by Margaret Martin that was built in 2019, at the corner of Broadway and Chicago Street, across from the Kimpton Journeyman Hotel. The space at 203 N. Broadway is listed at 2,130 square feet, with apartments on the upper floors.

Ben & Jerry's started in 1978, when Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield opened their first ice cream shop in Burlington, Vermont, after taking a $5 course in ice-cream making from Penn State, according to the official Ben and Jerry's website.
The two friends renovated a gas station and invested $12,000 to start the business, which is now owned by Unilever.
The brand has shown support for progressive causes, like protesting drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge in 2005, joining the Fair Trade Commitment in 2010 and creating a "Change is Brewing" ice-cream flavor to advance work around racial injustice.
