Patty Shack customers can buy meals for strangers in Thanksgiving deal

Patty Shack is letting customers buy meals for others in a "take a meal, leave a meal" Thanksgiving-related special.

Customers who go to Patty Shack, the newly franchised Utah burger joint at 2121 S. Kinnickinnic Ave. can buy a meal for a stranger in need to be redeemed later.

A Facebook post on Patty Shack's page said, "If you are hungry and have no money, these meals have been paid for in advance."

Anyone in need of a meal can grab a receipt from the window and give it to a Patty Shack employee, who will then prepare the already-paid-for meal.

Patty Shack owners Desmond and Kaylynn Jimerson were individually scrolling through social media when they each came across a similar social media post. They shared the post with each other at the same time and thought they should do the same at their restaurant.

"We want to make sure everyone has an opportunity for a whole meal," Desmond Jimerson said.

By Wednesday afternoon, there were about 25 meals available that customers bought for hungry guests.

Anyone wanting to buy a meal for someone else can place an order in person at Patty Shack or online. If making an online order through ToastTab. In the "name" section, customers can add "Happy Holidays" so employees know to set the meal aside for future guests.
