Milwaukee Holiday Lights Festival

The Milwaukee Holiday Lights Festival begins shining this weekend, with displays downtown in Cathedral Square Park, Pere Marquette Park and Zeidler Union Square. The displays join the Ornament Trail, a new art installation featuring 15 giant hand-painted ornaments. Info: milwaukeedowntown.com.

Milwaukee's Christmas tree lighting

The City of Milwaukee's Christmas tree lights up at 6 p.m. Nov. 17 in Fiserv Forum's Deer District — dubbed the Cheer District for the season. Performances by five arts organizations kick off the tree lighting at 5 p.m. Admission is free. Info: deerdistrict.com.

Holiday Folk Fair International

The 80th annual Holiday Folk Fair International sets up in State Fair Park's Wisconsin Exposition Center, with about 60 ethnic groups sharing food, culture and other traditions. The Folk Fair is from 2 to 9 p.m. Nov. 17, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Nov. 18, and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Nov. 19. Admission is $16, $14 for seniors 62 and older, and free for all military personnel and for children 7 and younger. Info: folkfair.org.

Feztival of Trees at Tripoli Shrine

The Feztival of Trees, the Tripoli Shriners' decorated tree raffle, returns to the Tripoli Shrine, 3000 W. Wisconsin Ave. Hours this weekend are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Nov. 18 and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 19; the Feztival runs through Nov. 25 (closed on Thanksgiving). Tickets are $5, free for kids younger than 12. Info: tripolishrine.com/feztival.

Diwali celebration

ElevAsian and the National Association of Asian American Professionals host a celebration of Diwali, the Indian festival of lights, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 19 at The Atrium, 2107 E. Bayshore's Season to Sparkle Holiday Celebration

The Season to Sparkle Holiday Celebration kicks off in The Yard at Bayshore in Glendale, from 5 to 7 p.m. Nov. 17. On the agenda: music, "reindeer games" (also, actual reindeer), food trucks and more. Admission is free. Info: thebayshorelife.com/events.
