Ash rust is a common fungal disease that can affect all ash tree species. According to Iowa State Extension, "Infected leaves, petioles, and small twigs swell and may become twisted and distorted, with yellow to orange pustules developing and producing powdery spores."

Cedar apple rust causes diseased, bright orange to red leaf spots on apples. This disease damages fruit but typically doesn't cause damage to host trees.

Maple tar spot begins as " rounded, pale green, chlorotic spots with tiny fruiting structures developing in the center," Iowa State Extension says. Different maple species can be affected slightly differently.
