Wisconsin football secures eighth oral commitment for 2024 class
MADISON – Wisconsin’s defensive coaches had to be beaming Thursday.
While UW was wrapping up its first spring session under head coach Luke Fickell, safety Kahmir Prescott was announcing he has committed for the 2024 class.
Prescott, from Philadelphia, recently trimmed his final list to five schools: UW, Penn State, Pittsburgh, Michigan State and Nebraska.
Prescott, 6-foot-1 and 190 pounds, is the eighth known commitment for the class. He is the first defensive back.
Texas quarterback Mabrey Mettauer, a key member of the 2024 class, watched UW’s practice Thursday.
Fickell cannot comment on unsigned recruits. However, during his post-practice meeting with reporters on Thursday he did address the staff’s recruiting efforts.
“I think we’re in a good place,” he said. “I think we’re continuing to grow.
“But it’s never one of those things where you say: 'We’re great.'
“We’ve got to continue to grow. We’ve got to continue to move forward. We’ve got some opportunities here these next (few) weeks to see if we think there’s some other things we can add.…
"And summer is now the most critical time in recruiting your next class. We’ve still got some work to be done this spring and getting these guys here this summer.”
