Bay Port linebacker Landon Gauthier gives UW its sixth commitment for 2024 class
MADISON – For the third time in less than two weeks, the Wisconsin football program has struck on the recruiting trail.
UW received an oral commitment from Bay Port junior Landon Gauthier on Wednesday evening. The announcement completes a whirlwind recruitment for the the 6-foot-3, 220-pound linebacker.
He chose the Badgers after receiving offers from Minnesota, North Dakota State, Ohio, Stanford and Syracuse. Gauthier announced his offer from Wisconsin Jan. 28.
He made 70 tackles last season, 46 solo and nine for a loss for the Pirates, who finished 12-1 and reached the state semifinals in Division 1. He received honorable mention on the Wisconsin Football Coaches Association all-state team and was a unanimous all-conference pick in the Fox River Classic Conference.
Gauthier joins Thomas Heiberger, an outside linebacker from South Dakota who committed Sunday, and Arrowhead offensive lineman Derek Jensen, who committed April 2, as recent commitments to UW’s 2024 class.
Gauthier is the sixth known commitment to the Badgers. The rest of the class includes Texas quarterback Mabrey Mettauer, Illinois tight end Grant Stec and Waunakee High School tight end Robert Booker.
