Wisconsin secures commitments from two offensive linemen from Pennsylvania for 2024 class
MADISON – After getting oral commitments from a pair of defensive prospects earlier this week, Luke Fickell and the Wisconsin staff landed not one, but two players to help restock the offensive line.
Kevin Heywood, a 6-foot-7, 295-pound offensive tackle from Pennsylvania, announced on Twitter Tuesday he has committed to UW for the 2024 class.
Ryan Cory, a 6-4, 290-pound interior lineman from Pennsylvania, followed with a similar announcement about an hour later.
Heywood's offer list is impressive, with Penn State, Georgia, Alabama, Michigan, Notre Dame, USC and Stanford among his suitors.
He was scheduled to visit Kentucky, Auburn and USC later this month.
Texas quarterback Mabrey Mettauer, who has committed to UW for the 2024 class, showed Tuesday he approved of the commitment.
"My blindside will be protected," he wrote on Twitter.
Heywood and Cory are the second and third offensive linemen to commit to UW for the 2024 class. The first was Derek Jensen of Arrowhead High School.
Cory is the 12th known commitment for the class overall and his path to UW is interesting because he was offered twice by Fickell.
Cory was a sophomore when Cincinnati offered a scholarship in April 2022. A little less than a year later Wisconsin’s new staff offered Cory a scholarship.
Cincinnati was his fourth Division I offer; UW was his 22nd offer.
Cory lists offers from Penn State, Pittsburgh, Virginia, Vanderbilt, Miami, Oregon, Kansas, Maryland and several other schools.
