A list of 2024 recruits for the Wisconsin Badgers football team; latest: Xavier Lucas
New University of Wisconsin football coach Luke Fickell has brought a new energy to the Wisconsin program, with a flurry of additions in both the transfer portal and the 2023 recruiting class. The 2024 class, meanwhile, looks to be loaded with talent.
These are the players who have verbally committed to the Badgers for the 2024 season.

Mabrey Mettauer

One of the first big commitments of the Fickell era (though he'd been recruited by the previous UW regime as well), the four-star Texas quarterback committed just before Christmas in late 2022. He held offers from Florida, LSU, North Carolina, Baylor and many more. Brother McKade is a senior offensive lineman for Oklahoma.
Grant Stec
Position: Tight endFrom: Algonquin, Ill.Height/weight: 6-6, 225
A four-star prospect according to 247 Sports and a three-star by Rivals, he held offers from Iowa, Michigan State, Minnesota, Illinois and others. He's the highest-rated tight end the Badgers have secured a commitment from in the rankings era.

Derek Jensen
- Position: Offensive line
- From: Hartland
- Height/weight: 6-7, 315
Arrowhead High School standout picked UW over a dozen Division I offers. Jensen is rated a four-star recruit by Rivals and a three-star prospect by ESPN and 247sports. He's the first offensive lineman in the class to commit and is one of several standouts at Arrowhead.
Thomas Heiberger
- Position: Linebacker
- From: Sioux Falls, S.D.
- Height/weight: 6-4, 215
Held offers from several Big Ten schools like Purdue and Illinois, not to mention programs like Oklahoma and Kansas. Three-star player has some remarkable athletic measurables.
Landon Gauthier
- Position: Linebacker
- From: Suamico
- Height/weight: 6-3, 220
The three-star Bay Port standout chose Wisconsin over Stanford and also had an offer from Minnesota.
Kyan Berry-Johnson
- Position: Wide receiver
- From: Chicago
- Height/weight: 5-11, 174
Wisconsin was the first Power 5 school to offer the Bollingbrook High School three-star standout, though several followed, including Michigan.
Kahmir Prescott
- Position: Safety
- From: Philadelphia
- Height/weight: 6-1, 190
Wisconsin received the commitment April 27, with Penn State and Michigan State among the other finalists. The three-star recruit was the first defensive back in the class to commit.
Hank Weber
- Position: Defensive line
- From: Brentwood, Tenn.
- Height/weight: 6-4, 260
Originally offered by the Badgers when Paul Chryst was still coach but committed June 5. He had offers from Michigan State, Purdue, North Carolina, Georgia Tech, Ole Miss and Mississippi State, among others.
Kevin Heywood
- Position: Offensive lineman
- From: Pottstown, Penn.
- Height/weight: 6-7, 295
Four-star recruit had an impressive list of offers, with Penn State, Georgia, Alabama, Michigan, Notre Dame, USC and Stanford among his suitors. He was ranked the No. 25 offensive tackle by 247Sports.com.
Ryan Cory
- Position: Offensive lineman
- From: Gibsonia, Penn.
- Height/weight: 6-4, 290
He was initially offered by Cincinnati when Fickell was head coach there, then was offered by Fickell's new staff at Wisconsin. His offers included Penn State, Pittsburgh, Virginia, Oregon, Kansas and more.
Raphael Dunn
- Position: Safety
- From: Lawrenceville, New Jersey
- Height/weight: 6-4, 205
He held offers from Michigan State, Illinois and Rutgers and also had visits lined up at SEC schools Kentucky and Vanderbilt when he committed June 11. Dunn, originally from Canada, will no doubt stand out for his unique height at the safety position.
Colin Cubberly
- Position: Offensive line
- From: LaGrangeville, N.Y.
- Height/weight: 6-6, 300
The third offensive lineman to commit in June of 2023, Cubberly held offers from several ACC schools like Pittsburgh, Duke, North Carolina State, Syracuse and Boston College.

Gideon Ituka
- Position: Running back
- From: Gaithersburg, Maryland
- Height/weight: 5-9, 220
First offered by Paul Chryst and his staff in May of 2022, Ituka committed to Luke Fickell's staff on June 17, 2023 and is the first running back in the class to commit. He held offers from schools such as Boston College, Maryland, Tennessee and Syracuse.

Jay Harper
- Position: Cornerback
- From: Valley, Ala.
- Height/weight: 6-0, 180
Chose Wisconsin over Mississippi State and Louisville, among others, when he announced his decision June 19.
Omillio Agard
- Position: Cornerback
- From: Philadelphia, Penn.
- Height/weight: 5-10, 165
The four-star corner had an impressive list of finalists, including Clemson, but chose the Badgers on July 1. He also held offers from Michigan, Alabama, Georgia and others.
Emerson Mandell
- Position: Offensive line
- From: St. Paul, Minn.
- Height/weight: 6-5, 295
The four-star lineman held several Big Ten offers, including from Minnesota, Iowa and Illinois. It's the third time in the past five classes that the Badgers have landed the No. 1-ranked player from the state of Minnesota.
Darrion Dupree

Four-star running back held offers from Michigan, Michigan State, Iowa and more, emerging as Wisconsin's top running back target in the recruiting class.
Anelu Lafaele
- Position: Defensive line/edge rusher
- From: Honolulu, Hawaii
- Height/weight: 6-3, 225
Following in the footsteps of fellow Hawaiian Nick Herbig, who was a standout at UW for three years before getting drafted, Lafaele chose UW over Washington, Hawaii and Arizona State. He has a four-star rating.
Dillan Johnson
- Position: Defensive line
- From: Plainfield, Ill.
- Height/weight: 6-2, 284
Johnson committed to Northwestern but changed his pledge to Wisconsin on July 12 in the aftermath of a scandal at NU that included the firing of head coach Pat Fitzgerald. He'll also wrestle at UW; he's regarded as one of the top heavyweight wrestlers in the nation.
Dilin Jones

- From: Olney, Maryland
- Height/weight: 6-0, 180
A third running back in the same recruiting class? The four-star running back had 31 offers, including from eight Big Ten schools, but chose UW over Maryland and Florida State even with two other running backs already committed in the class. It creates an opportunity for a loaded backfield even if Braelon Allen declares for the NFL after the 2023 season.
Xavier Lucas
- Position: Cornerback
- From: Deerfield Beach, Florida
- Height/weight: 6-2, 184
Defensive back could play safety or cornerback and chose Wisconsin over Iowa and Florida State. He's regarded as a three-star recruit by multiple services and a four-star by Rivals.
2024 de-commitments from Wisconsin Badgers
On June 21, 6-foot-6, 220-pound tight end Rob Booker (Waunakee, Wisc.) announced he was de-committing from Wisconsin and announced his intention one day later to play for UCLA instead.
Also on June 21, cornerback Vernon Woodward III (Winter Park, Florida) announced he was de-committing from Wisconsin and pledging to Illinois instead.
Chicago cornerback Austin Alexander de-committed Jan. 25.
Wynn Stang, a running back from Mukwonago High School in Wisconsin and the state's Gatorade Player of the Year for the 2022-23 season had accepted a preferred walk-on spot but elected to pursue lacrosse instead.
2025 commitments
Texas quarterback Landyn Locke, the brother of UW newcomer Bradeyn Locke, committed as the first member of the 2025 class on June 22. Braedyn transferred from Mississippi State last winter and is set to open the 2023 season as UW's No. 2 quarterback.
Virginia cornerback Remington Moss, the cousin of former UW running back star Brent Moss, committed Aug. 2. He's 6-2, 175 pounds and held scholarship offers from Michigan State, Notre Dame and others.
