Reserve guard/tackle Trey Wedig transferring from Wisconsin
When Trey Wedig joined the Wisconsin program in 2020, he did so as one of the more respected offensive line prospects in the country.
The graduate of Kettle Moraine High School was expected to help anchor UW's line at some point.
That time never came for Wedig, and the redshirt junior has decided to transfer.
After redshirting in 2020, Wedig was a reserve in 2021 and played in 12 games. He made eight starts in 2022 – five at right tackle, two at right guard and one at left guard.
Luke Fickell's staff touted that versatility and Wedig opened the season as the No. 3 guard. He rotated in at both guard spots early in the season, but his playing vanished after offensive line coach Jack Bicknell Jr. decided to ride the starters.
Wedig is the sixth known UW player to decide to transfer since the end of the regular season.
He joins wide receivers Chimere Dike and Skyler Bell; quarterback Myles Burkett; center Dylan Barrett; and outside linebacker Jordan Mayer.
